Harold Lloyd’s Safety Last

He’s back! the brilliant composer/pianist and Chicago theater music legend Larry Schanker is returning to provide live, improvised accompaniment to an evening of classic silent films shown on our beautiful projection system. This is becoming a seasonal event for us, and each time is more fun than the last. 

This week Larry will be scoring two silent film shorts, and then our feature will be the 1923 Harold Lloyd classic, Safety Last. Even if you are not familiar with Harold Lloyd, it is likely you have seen the famous clock scene (see below). Safety Last is actually a full length film, and Larry will improvise a score to the entire thing.

Larry is an astounding talent, and this event is absolutely magical. If you have not been to Studio5 to experience this, you really ought to come by. Breathtaking. And tons of fun.
