Joel Paterson has been on our radar for some time and we are delighted to introduce him to our Studio5 audiences. Joel says his life is “dedicated to playing guitar and exploring the sound and history of the roots music I love, including blues, jazz, country, western swing, and whatever else you want to call it.” His interests run deep and his delivery is authentic … not to mention tremendously fun. Howard Reich (Chicago Tribune) said this about The Modern Sounds: “Retro never sounded so appealing. Maybe that’s because guitarist Joel Paterson doesn’t regard the mid-20th century songs as historic repertoire.
